Porcelain Veneers in Scarborough
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that cover the teeth to close gaps and cover imperfections. Patients with stained, chipped, or misshapen teeth could highly benefit from veneers.
Veneers are made from very fine porcelain material that reflects light in a very similar manner to the enamel of natural teeth. This gives them a quality that makes veneers virtually undetectable. Porcelain veneers are highly resistant to stains and discolorations and if maintained properly, can last you for over a decade.
Porcelain Veneers Procedure
The procedure for porcelain veneers includes three appointments. First, an examination and treatment planning appointment at which time the doctor will discuss the details of the treatment and options with the patient. The second appointment includes the preparation of teeth for the veneers and placement of provisional (temporary) veneers. A third appointment is needed for the final bonding of the veneers.
Veneers are to be maintained as you would your natural teeth. Brushing and flossing are are of utmost importance to enhance the durability of your veneers.
You may feel some sensitivity to cold or heat in your teeth for a week or two after the final appointment. This is normal and will get better after one or two weeks. If the sensitivity persists, please contact our office.
